The timeline above plots the releases of each female directed film found on this site. By using it, one can perceive the changes that have occurred globally to the presence of women in film. From the release of Possum Paddock in 1921, to that of Under the Open Sky in 2020, there have been drastic changes in the world of film. Over several decades, women have progressed from not having a voice in the film industry, to producing several highly accomplished films each year. Despite this progress, women still do not experience true equality in this field of work; when it comes to women working in behind-the-scenes roles, men still outnumber women two-to-one (Robb, 2020).
